SAVV HOTEL 3 stars

Hotel in George Town

Situated in George Town, 2.8 km from Northam Beach, SAVV HOTEL features accommodation with an outdoor swimming pool, free private parking, a garden and a shared lounge. Great location, I could see the water from my single room, looking over to Butterworth. The bus station was very close and I could catch the free town bus or any of the other bus services there. There is a fabulous little bakery just around the corner, a large food hall just down the road, and a service station across the road. The was an area by the pool with chairs and tables you could use, although construction is currently happening next door so it was quite loud. The pool is small but fine for cooling off. Being able to fill my water bottle from the tap was awesome!

Coffee Atelier 3 stars

Hotel in George Town

Situated within the UNESCO World Heritage city of Georgetown, Coffee Atelier is a collection of 5 beautifully-restored shophouses dating back to 1927. This hotel is the absolute best. We received the warmest welcome, and the room and patio were the most beautiful setting to discover Penang and it’s history. The location was the best we could’ve asked for and we slept like babies in the comfy bed. The breakfast was also really good and the service excellent in every way.

Campbell House 4 stars

Hotel in George Town

Campbell House is conveniently located a 5-minute drive from Penang Museum and is surrounded by a variety of local shopping and eating options. *Everything is exceptional at Campbell House. *The entire staff was incredibly efficient, friendly, and helpful. For example, Nardya, the owner, took lots of time sitting with me to help me plan my excursions around Penang. *The hotel has been restored magnificently. My room was a beautiful vintage restoration, yet contained all the needed modern amenities. *Breakfast was super with lots of choices. And the hotel's Italian restaurant was outstanding and authentic, well worth visiting for a meal. *They even furnish your mini-fridge with pitchers of cold water and homemade ice tea and a small pitcher of milk for your tea if you desire it. I also enjoyed the little piece of homemade cake they bring you each afternoon for a snack. *Excellent central location in Georgetown. *One of the most pleasant hotel experiences I've enjoyed in a long time. Highly recommended.

FAQs about hotels in Penang

A Palm-Lined Pearl

An island and part of the mainland make up the small Malaysian region of Penang, also known as the ‘pearl of the Orient’. It has long been coveted and the capital Georgetown has many elegant Colonial buildings. The observation deck of the KOMTAR tower – the tallest building – offers spectacular views of the town and surrounding mountains.

A funicular railway goes up to Penang Hill deep in the forest. Nearby Air Itam has one of Asia’s largest Buddhist temples - Kek Lok Si – lit by hundreds of lights at night. Another fantastic temple is Taoist Kong Hock Keong in Georgetown.

Penang Airport is near southern Bayan Lepas, and across the Malacca Strait is Pulau Jerejak, a peaceful island where trees merge into ocean.

In the much livelier north, Batu Feringghi is the largest resort, with lots of Penang hotels on the beach, plenty of bars and a night market. East, green mountains slope down to blue waters at Tanjung Bungah, where several high-rise hotels overlook the palm-lined beach towards the Floating Mosque just offshore.

On the mainland Butterworth is the departure point for ferries to Penang island, and has a bird park housing a large number of Malaysian species. Wherever you decide to stay, Booking.com has a fantastic range of Penang hotels and apartments to choose from.
