Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThe location was a little far from the main parts of Dubrovnik, but taxis were pretty cheap to get around.
Great communication from the host, allowed us to check in early as we arrived very early. It was a comfortable experience for what we paid, would stay again if we came back to Dubrovnik. We had a balcony attached to our room and the view was amazing!

BrazilJust the location. It is a bit far from main point. You can take uber for 7 euros to go to the old town. The same price to go to the bus station.
The room was very confortable and clean.

United KingdomPillows/duvet could be replaced. Although the sheets were very clean, the pillows did smell a little old Shower is quite tiny and shower head kept falling down You definitely need a taxi to get to the guesthouse for first time. Don’t try to take the bus with heavy suitcases like we tried to do but ended up getting an Uber!
Me and my mum really enjoyed our stay at Alliya Guesthouse, it was really clean and the views of the town were amazing. The host kept in contact with us and made sure we could always ask her any questions or ask for anything we needed for our room. The guesthouse has a nice rustic feel . I liked the that it wasn’t typical bland modern furnishings, it felt more homely. They were really kind and gave us advice on how to get around and gave my mum a nice little gift for her birthday! This was very sweet of them and made our stay even nicer. We felt very welcome and comfortable and like it was a home away from home. I would definitely stay here again!

CroatiaWe didn’t like the shared bathroom. There was no soap for washing hands. There’s also no soap or shampoo for the shower (bring your own!) and people left their old wet towels on the bathroom floor. However, for the price and convenience we’re not complaining!
Super friendly host. We loved the ability for free parking and the price and the easiness of getting into the city! The bedrooms are sunny and specious and mattresses were a dream! We slept so well. There’s also a cute little bar/cafe on the ground floor. Great if you are hungry and don’t want to travel into the city!!

South AfricaNot the host fault, but in order to have the benefit of seeing the beautiful views over looking the city, it does mean that there are a lot are stair in the area. It is recommended by the host that you take a uber from the main bus station, if travelling by public transport, and I support that you take a uber on arrival and departure.
The host was super friendly and helpful. The guesthouse offers stunning views of the city. During the day time you can see the different islands and old town in the distance. At night time, the city lights up in a way that is truly worth the stay.

ArmeniaYou have to rely on the bus or spend some money on taxis to get around.
The hosts were very nice and gave us an advanced warning that the location is on a hill and steep to get there on foot when we arrive. We ordered Uber and it was only around €6-7. The room was spacious, light and reminded me more of a nice hotel room rather than a guesthouse. It had everything you'd need. A kettle, some tea bags, a hairdryer and even an iron. We had a nice balcony. Even though the view wasn't as magnificent, it was good enough with a cup of morning coffee. We had a change of towels and plenty of help from the hosts. There is a bus that you can take to the center. We relied on Uber as it wasn't expensive. However, we walked down the hill taking stairs to go for morning breakfast. Really happy with our stay.

IsraelThe rooms are basic.
The owner was very nice. There was a nice place for parking the car. There was good air in the night coming from the balcony. The location is close to the port at Lapad. Half an hour walking to the old city or by bus no. 3. The price is decent.

SpainEven though the host wrote us on whatsapp, by the way the message was written, we misunderstood how to get to the house and we ended up paying a very expensive taxi from the bus station (21 eur for a 13 min ride). She didn't make a major emphasis on catching an uber, but she suggested it. It may be helpful to rise awareness on the prices next time. Also, the next day we wanted to try uber to get to the old town but it was also very expensive (~19 eur), so we ended up taking the bus (<2 eur). One last thing is that we understand that the check-out is at 10 am. However, it was 9:50 am and the host came in without knocking the door while we were finishing up packing our bags. For us it's ok but we would have liked the time window to be respected.
It's a good place to stay away from the crowds of Dubrovnik. Although, it is very far from the old town and if you visit this city for a few days, the transportation can get complicated as the taxis and ubers are very expensive and there is only one bus (#3) every hour. Also the flat is on a very steep hill, so there are a lot of stairs to climb every time. Beyond that, the views of the flat are amazing, the place is really quiet and you have all the kitchen utensils to cook easy and cheap meals.

Czech RepublicThe stay at Guesthouse Alliya was great - the hosts were lovely, the place was nice and clean. There is coffee shop on the ground floor, where you can buy coffee and breakfast. Location is on the hill, but there is bus stop near by or you can use uber to get there. I was pleasantly suprised.

United StatesThe location is both a good and bad point. located near the top of steep inclines made it difficult to get to and from by foot for walking the area. steep stairs must be navigated to reach any of the dining or shopping at the port. the bathroom was tiny, though usable, and some of the furniture is old and in poor condition. I was afraid that the cabinet the mini fridge was in would collapse.
located near the top of an area of housing on the side of the mountain, it offered a scenic view of the port area and nearby islands. it had a small kitchen on the first floor, operated by staff, offering easy access to coffee and light meals. the bed was comfortable and the room was well ventilated for a good nights sleep.

PolandLimited privacy when sitting on the terrace or having the terrace door open, since other guests need to pass across that terrace directly in front of the door.

United KingdomIt was up a hill but when we figured out the buses it worked really well. The number 3 is what you need. Get the Dubrovnik pass if you’re planning on doing the city walls- it covers that cost plus you get free public transport!
Great views, Wi-Fi was good, some very nice touches with water and a basket of random stuff if you needed it (such as needle and thread), room had a balcony, shower was good and clean.

I really liked and appreciated the warmful and friendly hospitality from the 2 ladies incl. of their family. Anything was great for that reasonable price. The rooms were very clean and good furnished. I liked the special offerings in the small coffee shop (former garage) down in the house. The self-made pizza and the cold beer were awesome after my long trip. the view from the location is beautiful, but you have to hike to come to the guesthouse.
