The staff are amazing, Alex, Marie, Arora, and Sandra the owner went over and above to help you. They booked us the finest restaurants in the area, all of which were in walking distance. They also arranged for beauty treatments. The best kept secret; they have a private spar, with steam and sauna, which you can book for a fee. We loved it. The bed was super comfortable, linens super fresh and clean. They shared with us the best places to visit. The surrounding areas are spectacular. We did all three walks and around every corner there are delights. The buildings are breathtaking, you can’t help but feel transported to a past time. We did all three museums, and was not disappointed. We Evan bought a piece of art from the studio next door an artist called Daniel Llallemond, we could not resist, ;) Honflure is a must to visit. Ouistreham serves as the ferry port for Caen, so is busy at times of day coinciding with ferry arrivals and departures. Otherwise this is a relaxing and fairly quiet town by the Caen canal and river Orne, with a harbour and well stocked fish market. There are long sandy beaches stretching westwards towards Lion-Sur-Mer and beyond, including the D-Day landing beaches. Ouistreham and the immediate neighbouring villages are home to 'Sword' beach. There's a D-Day museum and several memorials in the vicinity, including the site of Pegasus Bridge and the first airborne landings at Benouville. There are a number of hotels and restuarants that are reasonably priced. Regular bus services mean you are within easy reach of Caen, which is a main hub for trains and buses within Normandy and beyond.
Pretty village of charming old houses but little else to distract us. Handy location for visiting Rouen, Honfleur & other coastal towns, the River Route around the Seine countryside & the historic Normandy beaches & memorial museums.
This medieval Manor House in the quiet lanes of Normandy takes you to another dimension, away from the busy world. Didier welcomed us like old friends and made sure our stay was wonderful. If you want to explore the real France, stay here in this amazing building as a guest of this wonderful Frenchman
Honfleur is a very picturesque harbour town with a great artistic heritage. Wonderful restaurants serving the freshest seafood. A very pretty harbour basin. Not to be missed on any trip to Normandy.
Caen is beautiful. The top things to visit are the Men’s abbey, the Women’s abbey and the castle. Ate at Bistro 102 which was lovely, drank at Cafe Mango which was really nice. Good location to visit the Normandy beaches. Would definitely recommend.
Honfleur is a beautiful old harbour town..boutique shops and galleries and multiple restaurants. Perfectly positioned to enjoy the coast....Normandy beaches for history and great seaside towns like Trouville. Honfleur has everything you could want and friendly people. We had a brilliant night with locals enjoying live music and dancing. Eating ...spoilt for choice from very good restaurants like Le Breard to great harbourside restaurants for coffees and breakfast whilst people watching
The only good thing about my stay at this hotel was how nice the room was. I’d only ever recommend this village if you have a car because there’s nothing to do here but eat and sleep. It’s impossible to travel around Normandy if you don’t have a car.
The hotel staff could not have possibly done more to make our stay enjoyable, friendly, helpful, and informative, the room was worth more than the price we paid. Mortain town is neat, tidy, quiet, we were charmed by the people we met wherever we travelled, the roads are good, well marked and easy to navigate, whilst we did not have time to visit the famous water falls, for our first time in the Normandy region, we were pleased to have found this gem.
Location is fairly central for visiting the Normandy beaches, museums etc and also for Bayeux. We stayed in June, it’s not too busy but busy enough to have to reserve for evening meals in some places. For its size and number of potential visitors, parking a car might be a problem. On the subject of parking, the car parks in the centre by the sea and adjacent are expensive. But are free between 1900 and 0900. The ones free during the day are a walk away to the rear of the town, but not many spaces. So hunting somewhere to park might take awhile. Also hotels either have no parking or very few spaces. The main reason foe pir visit was the D Day Museum and the D Day landings in general. The museum is informative with some great models of the Mulberry Harbour. The 360 Cinema is also good and quite emotive, some reviewers are critical of this but we found it very good. There are a number of places to eat out at night to suit every budget, but reservations might be a good idea in high season. Quality of food is very good too. We spent 3 nights here and were not disappointed.
Fontaine-Henry is a well kept historic village in wonderful Normandy country side. It's location is "far from the madding crowd" but central for visits to the Normandy beaches and Caen
Upon arriving, we found the Hotel under construction and we were accommodated at their sister property the Belle Normandy. The same ownership has both hotels. We were treated like royalty. The rooms were large and brand new. The breakfast was excellent and the staff helped us a lot. We do not speak French and they helped a ton. we went to restaurants they recommended and had wonderful dinners. They helped us set up a tour of the Battle Fields and made sure we were comfortable at all times. No question we would go back to this same property.
Fabulous hotel and a perfect stopover to explore Normandy. The main building and guest rooms are located in old French farm-style houses that look stunning. Inside, all facilities are new and comfortable. The hotel staff is super nice and friendly. The entire territory of the hotel is like a beautiful garden with plenty of places to relax. Although I felt there is not much to do in the village where the hotel is located, it's definitely a great stopover if you have a car and travel around Normandy.
Les Andelys
Wonderful hosts & wonderful breakfast - one of the best in many years travelling in France! Fresh fruit (including figs from the garden), yoghourt, jams, cheeses, croissants, Normandy apple cake ... Lots of lovely touches in the bedroom ; great recommendation for dinner (a Lebanese restaurant nearby) & aperitifs with snacks offered beforehand. And what a fantastic position, in the heart of the old town, a stone's throw from the Seine, looking up at the chateau gaillard.
We liked the location and the fact that it was close to everything. There are good restaurants in walking distance of the hotel, on the same street even. We didn’t even really need to use the car while we were there. My wife loved staying here. She liked the room, and there is an older dog named “Gloria” that wanders the hotel that she fell in love with. We got a WW2 tour of the Normandy beaches that started and ended in town center. It was amazing!
Hotel de Quebec was exactly what I needed road tripping through Normandy and booking last minute accommodations. I was here for 2 nights and the location was perfect! There is parking but it was full so I parked at a public garage close by which was still conveniently close to the hotel and just explored, walked everywhere and took in all the sites! Will def book again if I am back in the Rouen area. Best bang for my buck! Just what my budget needed!
Courseulles-sur-Mer
Sincerely recomended. The apartment is really cozy and clean. The most comfortable large bed on our trip around France! Apartment located in the center of Courseulles-sur-Mer, an authentic small town on the coast, close to shops, restaurants and the marina where you can buy fresh fish. A great place to explore the Normandy coast and relax on the beach or take a long walk on the seabed at low tide
The staff who work here are lovely and super nice. I was advised to order the Steak Tartar with tomatoes for dinner. It was fantastic I was on a long distance ( 3000 mile) motorcycle tour and ended up here because it was an hour from Cherbourg I was in love with this area. The Hotel is just beside an amazing beach. I have travelled all over, but nowhere is like Normandy
Bayeux
The location was quiet, clean, and comfortable. We rented the one bedroom, one bath efficiency apartment with kitchen and sofa bed for a week. We were able to prepare coffee and breakfast each morning and a light lunch later in the day. The place is small but was used as a home base for seeing the Normandy area and suited our needs perfectly. Was also very economical.
Our room was VERY comfortable and the hotel's location with respect to visiting the Monet Gardens at Giverny was extremely convenient, but what set Hotel Normandy apart was the fact that after booking a local restaurant for us, one of the front desk staff actually WALKED us the 6 blocks to the restaurant to insure we didn't get lost! Service above and beyond!
Bayeux
Fantastic 1 bedroom apartment with everything I needed. Location was great, a stone’s throw from the cathedral and town centre and also close to the Battle of Normandy Museum and war graves. I would stay again but unlikely to do so as I’ve done all Bayeux had to offer in my 2 nights stay. Recommend this for a visit to see Bayeux’s sights.
Hotel is in the city centre, perfectly situated for seeing all the nice places. The room wasn't too big, but the view to Palais de Justice was very beautiful. The hotel itself is in an old Normandy style building. Parking system with Parking Palais de Justice was a good addition to hotel's service and worked fine.
Good location if your are visiting Rouen by car. We were touring through Normandy and needed a good hotel near the center but not so close that overnight parking was a hassle. The Holiday Inn Express fit the bill nicely. Breakfast was good, it's an easy drive to the center of town. Recommended.
A wonderful accommodation in the heart of one of Normandy's loveliest towns - Honfleur. The hotel itself sits atop the restaurant and has nice views of the lively street below. The room had plenty of room and was well-appointed. It's located a minute walk from Honfleur's gorgeous harbor.
Nice hotel very green ,comfortable and interesting areas to sit in. Very clean. Nice spa.On the outskirts of wonderful Honfluer great view of the Pont de Normandy bridge. Roads from Hôtel lead to , Douville and Le Havre. Very good breakfast. Really lovely staff helpful and friendly. Would go again.
Rooms are standardized, clean, bright and ergonomical, well arranged, functional. The hotel is not far from sea shore. The morning breakfast at the restaurant l'étage is great in quantity and quality. This hotel is Way better hotel to sleep at than the fake 5 stars barriere le normandy
The Hotel located just right to the free shuttle bus stop to Saint Mont Michel. We drive to Normandy and we appreciate It has a lot of parking space just infront of the hotel! very friendly customer service and I am happy the hotel staff able to reserve a room on ground floor for older folks.
The staff was wonderful. We had the room with a couch and it was a big room. The location was great. The atmosphere in the lounge with the fire place and chairs was awesome. I saw a review the hotel didn’t have air conditioning. It’s Normandy! You don’t need it. I would stay here again
Bayeux
The location of the property was centrally located in Bayeux and quiet from street noise. There was parking for the unit in a courtyard and this made it easy for us to leave on time each morning for our Normandy tours. Staying in Bayeux is great for touring the Normandy battlefields.
Giverny
The room was clean and had a great shower which was perfect for first night in France. The breakfast was wonderful. Take time to walk through the garden as it is beautiful. The secured parking in the back was a nice bonus as were driving from Paris to the Normandy area.
The room was clean, modern and functional - but of budget hotel standard. It is a functional budget hotel in the outskirts of Caen. I found that the standard of the Ace Hotel was better than that of Ibis Hotels, which I also used twice on my short Normandy vacation.
