Hotel Doñana Blues, hotel in Matalascañas

Doñana Blues is located in one of the prettiest areas in Andalucía, Doñana. It has free Wi-Fi in public areas and an attractive cafeteria.

Great location, close to beach. Easy to get to El Rocío and Doñana park. The hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast in the cafeteria good value. We had a standard upstairs room which only has a tiny balcony, but it was good enough for us as we were out most of the time. We booked the Doñana excursion through the hotel and it was very good.

Matalascanas is right beside Donana National Park but the mosquitoes don't stay behind the fence so bring plenty of insect repellent because they are irrepressible and they are everywhere. At this time of the year (April), the main supermarkets are closed (Google lies about this) and so are a lot of restaurants and other shops etc. At this time also, the bars and restaurants on the beach are mostly understaffed and overpriced and so don't expect service with a smile or in a hurry.

Its a strange sort of half deserted seaside town, moatly 2nd homes. We visited in March i imagine it is much busier in summer. Not many places to eat out off season and the places they did have are very basic. One ripped us off by charging 40e for a piece of steak, but it is the closest beach place to Seville. The beach its self and sunset, and surrounding nature areas are beautiful.

The beach and the sea were the best you could expect.

The beach and the sea were the best you could expect. The town was dead. A lot of places were already closed down for the winter in mid- September when it was still very warm and sunny. Matalascanas is a weird place. Spanish holiday makers from nearby Seville may love it but for international travellers I do not rate it at all.

Small town, with long beach and very windy weather.

Small town, with long beach and very windy weather. When you want quite and long walking, it's perfect. But when you want some life or picnic in the beach:) , it's not for you. Here is fantastic park Donana and awesome western town El Rocío. It's good for short break. And there is small problém, when you don't speak spanish. Many people don't speak english.

The beach is superb and plenty of restaurants to chose from both ends of the beach. There wasn't enough beach bars for young people, just one very good one playing great music that closed by night. If this bar had stayed open at night we would have gone there every evening. Restaurant service wasn't the best but the seafood at the restaurants was amazing.

The hotel is basically a small village, not much crowdy. Houses and appartments are newly refurbished, spacious and clean. There is a parking lot in front of each appartment, which is handy. We had a huge terrace with an artificial turf. Swimming pool was an undoubtedly an advantage, it was always something going on around it. There is a funny train (free of charge!) that is driving to/from the beach. This is an additional fun for kids and a transportation mean, because it is not possible to park the car near the beachside.

If I were to be honest, I booked this hostel and noticed I had not booked a hotel and was worried about staying there as I have not stayed in a hostel before, however, there was nothing to worry about, I have stayed in far far worse hotels in my time. The property had it's own toilet facilites, a decent shower and a comfortable bed. Unfortunately, I stayed there out of season so the restaurants were mostly closed but the accomodation was more than sufficient and we were pleasently surprised.

The booking procedure and communication with the hotel was excellent The cleanliness of the entire property, garden and car park was exceptionally clean! The staff were incredibly helpful and polite The location was very close to the beach One of the most required and appreciated things about this hotel for us was the tranquility. Despite other guests staying there, it was very very quiet

We loved our stay here - very well equipped place, easy walking distance to the lovely beach and big seasonal supermarket (July-August), free secured parking, plenty of information about the surroundings, great value for money. Very helpful and responsive host. Would def stay here again if back to Matalascañas.

The owner of the property, Pablo, was a pleasure to meet. He's helpful, friendly, and knowledgable. He even gave us a big bag of fresh local oranges (which are delicious)! Pablo's friendly and generous nature made our overnight stay feel like we were locals in Matalascañas. What more could you ask for?!

Onsite parking, good location. Comfy beds & good shower, fridge too! So unusual in Spanish hotels. Plus kettle & tea/coffee-making facilities in reception area - another great point! Spotlessly clean too.
