It was everything that one would expect from a Holiday Inn on the edge of town. Which is to say, an average commercial-style hotel that is slightly overpriced for the convenience of being close to the airport in advance of your early-morning departure, with respect to which it is very convenient that a number of taxis sit just outside waiting for you to stumble out at 0430. The staff were nice; the room was clean and bright; the TV of an excellent size for watching playoff hockey. There was a nice little pond next to the building around which to stroll, and perfectly-acceptable fast-ish food (pizza, Asian, sandwiches) within walking distance. Would I stay here for more than one night? Well, no. There are much nicer options in town. But, as a convenient final stop before boarding an early-morning flight, it got the job done just fine.

I grew up in St. John's and it is a great spot for a visit.
I grew up in St. John's and it is a great spot for a visit. The facilities for tourists have really increased over the last 20 years and there are a lot of great restaurants and shops for tourists to experience. The sites in a city that is 400 years old are quite varied and there is ready access to nature visiting sites as well within an hour of the city core.
Pack for pretty variable weather that trends to cooler and damper.

The city offers so much history and with a wonderful presentation at The Rooms. We had a fun screeched in ceremony at Christians with skipper Lukey. The view from signal Hill shows it all. Cape spear and Quidi Vidi can not be missed as well. Especially having lunch at the Mallard Cottage and an Iceberg at the brew company. The waterfront in St. John’s is very interesting and worth the walk.

We stayed at this hotel upon arriving at the airport at 2:30 am.
Shuttle was waiting by the time we got to the pick up point. Great service. Friendly reception. Sufficient breakfast offerings. Great staff in all areas. Perfect for our needs.
Unexpectedly, we spent a second night at the end of our trip when our flight to Toronto was cancelled. Again--great staff in all areas.

Loved the Harbour and the pedestrian mall.
Loved the Harbour and the pedestrian mall. Very hilly, I will definitely be in better shape before my next visit (the unexpected humidity was exhausting, but we made the best of that!)
Everything was close by, very easy to get around.

Best recommendation is: Take the Metro Bus from your hotel to the Pedestrian Plaza on Water Street for shopping and restaurants. It is closed off for the summer and the shopping is delightful. Lots of outdoor patios. We chose one of the outdoor pubs for fish and chips and a local brew. Perfect! Now walk up the stairs at the Courthouse and see the Jelly Bean Houses. Pier 10 is a great place to see the cruise ships docking. Just down the hill from Water Street, this is where the bus lets you off. Catch the Hop on Hop off for lots of sights - located outside of the Alt Hotel on Water Street.

St-John's and the whole Newfoundland is a very unique place.
St-John's and the whole Newfoundland is a very unique place. If you love nature , it is the place for you , yet it also has great restaurants and nightlife and the people there are amazingly friendly and proud of their culture and province . There is a lot of talent from there and the art is amazing .So they will go out of their way to make you feel welcome and bring you the best experience ever. !
I enjoyed the cool vibe of the area and the restaurant and hotel were the very center of all the action. The hotel room was great, wonderful bath and shower! Unlike most other hotels in st. John's Blue on Water has streaming services so I could enjoy Netflix Prime and so on. The comp bathrobe was the cherry on top!
I didn't eat in the restaurant but ordered to my room the absolutely best hamburger I've ever had... there was so much incredible food it was hard to choose just one thing . I will definitely be going back.
I take many trips to St. Johns and normally stay right downtown. This time, I decided to stay here. The pictures they have online don't do this place justice.
Ok.. the coffee.. dear lord. WOW
The room... amaze balls
The tub is totally showing off. Biggest home tub I have ever been in.
Staff... over the top awesome. Talk, laugh, within an hour I thought I was surrounded by friends in my own home.
This will be my regular place to stay moving forward.
Great people, great place, great breakfast.
This was the perfect ending to a wonderful trip around Newfoundland. The rooms were beautifully decorated, the staff was friendly, and the restaurant across the street was exceptional. It was all the little touches that made this stay extra special for us like the social lounge with complimentary beverages and the daily breakfast basket that was brought to our room. Would definitely stay here again.
This chain of hotels is consistently good. Modern and efficiently run, well appointed and very comfortable. Very clean suite, bed and sofa are comfortable and good amenities. It's an easy drive to downtown attractions. The kitchenette was well stocked. Having both restaurants attached to the hotel - a Dennys for breakfast and a Moxies for dinner was great. Moxies will even do room service.
Warmth and welcome hospitality of our hosts. Beautiful, comfortable rooms (during our first stay at the beginning of our holiday in Newfoundland and also for our 2nd stay at the end of our holiday). We especially loved the Queen Spa Room. Breakfasts were casual, delicious & perfect for what we needed and the downtown location was awesome. Can’t wait to come back.
I was so impressed with the Inn after staying there on my first night in Newfoundland, I booked to stay again on my last night. It's a good value choice just a short walk from the waterfront and the bars and restaurants of Water Street.
Rooms are comfortable and cosy and John the breakfast chef was entertaining and cooked great eggs.
Great location! Downtown and walking distance to a lot of fun bars, galleries, workshops. Good restaurant in the ground floor as well! Restaurant was a bit pricey for me but I am a broke-ish grad student so that obviously impacts my opinion. Really good bacon cheeseburger. Hotel itself is a completely reasonable price!
Included breakfast in the cafe was good. We had other food from the cafe in our room and it also was good.
Bed was the most comfortable of our 16 day stay in Newfoundland. What make and model matress do you use? We would like to purchase the same for our home.
The room was very clean and comfortable, with a good location downtown. The staff was cordial and helpful and the breakfast was excellent, with a good variety of food.
This hotel is in an amazing location in the heart of downtown! I found the bed & pillows very comfortable. Staff at the front desk were very friendly and helpful.
Great restaurant and great food. The hotel is a perfect location for a walk downtown and the underground parking lot is very convenient. Thanks for having us.
